“Good Deeds Musicians Can
Do to Make a Difference”
I have always been a music fan since
I was little youngster listening to my mom’s selection of music like ABBA,
Queen, and Billy Joel. My taste of music depends on the beat, lyrics, or even
the talent of the musician. Even more, if the musician is a giving or influencer
of certain topics like feeding the poor or helping a certain health cause. A
musician has the publicity and the means to reach the public by the use of
musical lyrics or even announcing the cause that needs attention on social
media platforms. For example, I remember
Band Aid in 1984, where Bob Geldof organized many super bands to come together
for a concert to raise money for hunger in Ethiopia. The release of the song”
Do They Know It’s Christmas? Sold over 8 million copies to have donations sent
to deprived areas in Africa that was close to starvation. Even though, Bob
Geldof was a musician himself in a band named, “Boomtown Rats” was known in
England and Europe as a Rock, punk Band. Bob Geldof wasn’t a really popular
musician at the time before Band Aid but, his name came to be well known. Later
on, he formed other “Aids” to fight hunger, such as Live Aid and Live 8. Live
Aid was held for only 16 hours where musicians were invited to perform to raise
money. It was great to watch all the bands play live and it was great knowing
it was for a great cause.
As musicians
are often influencers in fashion, entertainment, and lyrical geniuses that
encourage teens and elders in moving themselves physically and emotionally.
Musicians can influence people to give funds where’s it’s needed or stand up
for some causes that need attention to. Musicians are artists that express
themselves through their music and popularity and have the TV, Radio, and Video
access to make the acknowledgement of awareness for many causes.
